The story includes:

  • Jewish teachers go to Antioch.
  • They teach that Gentiles need to obey the Law of Moses.
  • Paul and Barnabas try to correct them, but this starts an argument.
  • Church leaders send Paul and Barnabas to apostles in Jerusalem.
  • Christian leaders in Jerusalem meet to determine the will of God on this.
  • Peter reminds them of God’s working with Cornelius.
  • Paul and Barnabas share how God is working with the Gentiles.
  • James gives his advice, which includes three simple commandments.
  • A letter is sent to the church in Antioch with these instructions.
  • The Christians are encouraged when they hear of their freedom in Christ.
